An initial, passing view of this symbol evokes a musical identity of the simple treble clef. A closer, reflective encounter reveals a soul-fire. This fire of the soul fuels a transforming energy to music of old and new, and to music yet to be created. The fire ... an ancient, universal symbol of life, survival, and spirituality ... is a source for warmth, life, passion, meaning, and soul. The center is gold ... the soul within. It can be tarnished, stolen, neglected, valued, "fired" and refined, treasured. The treasure is both protected and ready to be given. This golden life force within each of us flames and flickers. It generates life, warmth, energy. It fuels movement. Too little fire can extinguish the soul. Too much can consume it, burning it up and reducing life to ashes. This treble clef contains the fire, yet the fire is not bound by it. The partnering masculine bass clef is not visible, but is an integral part of the symphonies within. Light and shadow, spark and ash, black and gold interplay with one another. |
